Online Edit

After the colour grading stage, the Online Edit plays a critical role in finalising the video or film for delivery. Our work ensures that the project is polished, technically accurate, and conforms to the required specifications.

Integration of Final Elements

The final assets are integrated into the project, including:

  • Color-graded footage from the colourist.

  • Visual Effects (VFX) shots that have been created or refined separately.

  • Titles, Credits, and Graphics, ensuring they are correctly placed and formatted.

  • Audio Mix, syncing the final sound design and music track with the picture.

Quality Control (QC)

We perform a thorough quality check to ensure the film/video meets both creative and technical standards:

  • Visual Continuity: Verifying there are no mismatched cuts, colour inconsistencies, or errors introduced during the integration process.

  • Artefact Removal: Checking for issues such as banding, noise, or glitches that might have been missed in earlier stages.

  • Clean-Up: Removing stray markers, wires, rigs, or any elements that shouldn’t be visible.

Conformance

The online edit ensures the final cut adheres to the edit decision list (EDL) or AAF/XML timeline from the offline editing stage.

We ensure that all adjustments made in earlier stages (e.g., colour grading, VFX) are accurately aligned to the original timeline.

Graphics and Titles

The online edit ensures:

  • Motion Graphics, Text Elements and Credits are correctly timed

  • Match the desired typography and formatting.

  • Comply with branding or design guidelines.

Export and Delivery

Prepare the master deliverables in required formats for various platforms (cinema, broadcast, streaming, or physical media):

Resolution: Ensure the final output is at the correct resolution (e.g., 4K, HD).

Codecs: Encode files using specific formats (e.g., ProRes, DNxHD, H.264) as per client or distributor requirements.

Aspect ratio and frame rate: Confirm adherence to platform standards (e.g., 16:9 for TV, DCP for cinema).

DCP Creation: Our Digital Cinema Package (DCP) are supplied on specially formatted drives ensuring seamless integration and playback on your digital cinema projection server.
